Gnaw: Generating New Art Writing is a critical review devoted to experimentation in the medium of art writing and diversity of local coverage. Gnaw explores both traditional and non-traditional forms of art writing through essays, dialogs, picture stories and video accounts of primarily Milwaukee-based exhibitions.

(The mast head image is a detail from Janine Antoni’s “Gnaw,” 1992, which featured two 600 pound blocks of chocolate and lard, which the artist gnawed on during the exhibition).

Gnaw founders, writers and editors are: Sara Caron, Debra Bremer, Ashley Janke, Sara Mulloy, and Stephen Strupp.
